Giethoorn is a peaceful village in Overijssel of Holland and
had reclaimed by a group of Mediterranean from 1230. There are no road and this
village just have canals around houses and farms. Because of this special
point, director Bert Haanstra had chosen this for Fanfare’s background in 1958.
After Fanfare film was made public, this village becomed famous.
Surrounded all of this village are canals 7,5 kilometers
length. Because of this reason, the village is called Venice of Holland. You
will not only travel by boat but also can walk across 50 ancient bridges with
wood dome across canals.
Almost houses in here have cottage roof and water is
surrounded everywhere, make this place like a inviolable island. In order to
transfer, people can walk across the bridge or go by boat. Some machine boat
make noise are do not used because they don’t want to break out the peaceful
air of this water village.
Winter is the most favorite season with people in here, at
one attract large amount of tourists who love ice skate. In the oder hand, this
is a chance for people to walk around the village.
